Many people are wondering how to watch Fios on laptop. There are a lot of people that either have a laptop or want one and they want to be able to stream Fios in on their laptop. The answer is easy if you know how. But, first things first.
The thing about Fios is that it is a digital network television service and there is no analog signal to run through your computer system. You need a digital receiver box to connect your laptop to the television. Now there are many different kinds of receivers available but they are all wired devices so you cannot use them for a laptop.
If you have the right DVR then you can hook up the laptop to your TV using a USB cable. The DVR box needs to have an ethernet port. The Ethernet cable needs to be either a wireless dongle or the regular one which comes with your router.
Once you have the DVR installed into your computer the next step is to download the Fios app from their website. The DVR box does need to have a Wifi card in it to make the connection to the DVR.
To watch Fios on laptop you will plug your DVR into the USB port on your computer and you will be prompted to configure the software that comes with your DVR. Click on “play” and it should automatically be set to use the USB port.
When you are done with this step you will need to configure the Fios software to use a Network adapter. This is usually called LAN Connection or Wi-Fi Adapter.
After you have this configured you are ready to begin using your computer as a Network Adapter. If you have the internet connected and you already have a connection to your Internet service provider then you should be able to use this adapter.
If you do not have an Internet connection you can simply start off using your laptop as an antenna for Fios. Once you have the signal then you will need to have your laptop and an Ethernet cable to link up with the internet connection of your choice. Another option for watching Fios on laptop would be to connect your computer directly to your Television with a VGA to DVI cable connection. To do this you will need to insert the adapter into your computer and then plug the DVI signal into the VGA port of your television. When you see the red and white indicator light on the screen then you are ready to watch Fios on laptop.
For connecting the laptop to your television you will need to insert the Ethernet cable into the USB port on your computer. After this is plugged in you should be able to view the DVR on your computer. When you see the red and white indicator light on the screen then you are ready to watch Fios on laptop.
To make sure that you are watching Fios on laptop you will need to turn on the TV and then adjust the volume of the speakers that are near the front of your TV. Once you are in the correct setting then you will be able to watch Fios on laptop without interrupting the current program you are watching on the DVR.
